JESUS
FINDING LIFE AND HOPE IN
WHO IS JESUS?
Discover who Jesus is. You can have a relationship with the living God through Jesus. Let’s talk about how God made that possible.
HOPELESS WITHOUT JESUS
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
- Romans 3:23
Without Jesus, we are hopeless in our sin.
There’s a standard of righteousness and holiness (perfection) we are meant to live by, and none of us measure up to it - we call that sin. Sometimes that is committing things we shouldn’t, but it can also be not doing the things we should be doing.
Even if we go to church, do good things, or even read the Bible… none of this can bring us closer to God’s standard of righteousness and none of this can erase the sin in our lives.
The Bible is clear: as we fall short of that standard, we face the reality that “the wages of sin is death” (Romans 6:23). That’s terrible news, but there is hope.
WHY JESUS CAME
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
- John 3:16
Jesus came to overcome the sin that stands in the way between us and God.
At a place called Skull Hill, Jesus died on a cross. While hanging there, God took every sin you’ve ever committed and put it on Jesus. He became your substitute dying in your place.
But Jesus didn’t stay dead. On the third day, he rose from the grave to offer life, forgiveness, and salvation to anyone who believes (puts their trust) in Him.
Jesus didn’t come to make bad people good, He came so dead people could live. He came so that us separated from God by our sin, could be forgiven.
FIND YOUR HOME, FIND YOUR PURPOSE
You were created for a person and a place. That person is Jesus. And that place is heaven. Until you have a relationship with Jesus and are headed to your true home, nothing in this world can ever truly satisfy you. You will always feel like something’s missing.
If you feel restless… an ache you can’t shake…as though this world isn’t enough… That’s because it’s not.
As you come to know God through His Son, Jesus, you will be made new. Jesus will orient you so you are headed to heaven, your true home. And He will use you right here on this earth, giving you purpose while you are alive on the way to going home. And when we get home we will receive this promise…
He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.
- Revelation 21:4
HOW TO PUT YOUR FAITH IN JESUS
Jesus has done all the heavy lifting, and now He is inviting you into a relationship and lifelong journey of following Him. The Bible is clear on that.
If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- Romans 10:9
When you are ready to trust Jesus and receive His forgiveness for all your sin, the next step is to simply tell Him that you commit to believing in Him.
You can put your faith in Jesus by telling God:
Where you have been “God, I know that I’m a sinner, I know that I’m far from you.”
What you believe “I believe in Jesus, that He died on the cross, rose from the dead, and brings me near to you, God.”
What you promise “I choose to follow you, God.”
How you’ll live out your life “I give you my life from this day forward.”
What you need to live out your promise “Please fill me with your Holy Spirit, and give me your power, grace, and strength to live the life I was born to live.”
WHAT NOW?
When you tell God that you have put your faith in Jesus… if you say it and mean it… then you are forgiven and adopted into His family.
You might not feel any different. But the gospel is about facts, not feelings.
If you believe in Christ, then you have been forgiven, and He has come into your life.
